HEKIMA CONNECTS.

VISION:

Explore talents in developing  Kibera  slum  economically.

MISSION:

To  be persistent and committed  in  empowering our  fellow youths through their talents.

AIM:

Eradicate  bad  behavior  through  talent  exploration,  hence developing  and  empowering  youths  economically.

OBJECTIVES:

• Create a social interaction zone.
• Create an awareness for youths on the effects of  drugs.
• Develop social-economical and entrepreneurial  skills on the basis of talent explored.

ACTIVITIES:

We have put certain activities in place in order to enhance us to reach our main objective.Though we have not yet done much, hopefully through our partnership with like-minded people and organizations, we shall be able to implement them. This are the three pillars we use as a platform that guides us to our activities:

 1.SPORTS.

We already have a football team composed of young people aged 10yrs up to 16yrs old forming a team called TIGER STARS.The reason as to why we chose on starting first by the football team is because most of the youth in Kibera like football and could be our main social interaction zone. Apart from that, the state of misbehavior in the slum of Kibera is at an alarming rate and sports could be a way of decreasing idleness.

2.ARTS/THEATER.

Under this  we have managed to bring up youth who have talents in acting, dancing and singing who go for competitions and at times are invited for local performances.

3.COMMUNITY ENGAGED ACTIVITIES.

So far, we have not managed to be involved in any activity that we host for the community due to insufficient resources.However we've been  able to be invited to some peace forums in which we have been part of the facilitators.

ACHIEVEMENTS.

Through the sports and arts we have managed to keep the youth and invite peer educators who train them on life skills education and do mentor them.One of our ways to prevent the youth from misbehaving is through offering  training.

We have also been able to partner with local organizations that have involved us  in organizing peace forums in Kibera.

CHALLENGES.

We have a great challenge among our youth in Kibera due to impatient in that they have the perception of cheap and easy coming things hence feel as if doing such activities involving community they feel it is a waste of time.

In a few areas that we have managed to put our efforts in, the challenge that we always face is insufficient resources to fulfill all the sectors in sports, arts and community engaged activities.
